Program Advisors

Career Services is dedicated to supporting advisors in obtaining accurate and complete placement and leaver data, and in working with graduates to assist them in obtaining employment after program completion. Programs developed through Career Services consist of quarterly reports, annual reports, and providing career related seminars, to name a few, which are all geared towards job placement. Career Services is available to advisors for one-on-one assistance and training as needed in support of this effort. Please feel free to contact Career Services if you have questions about reports or services provided, or with any special needs request.  Below are several links that may assist you or answer questions involving reports or other services offered through Career Services:

What is the Career Services Plan? The plan is guidelines used to mandate many of the functions performed by Career Services at Ogeechee Tech to include: the Quarterly Exit/Leavers/Graduate Report, Instructor Graduate Employment Follow-up Forms, End-of-Year Graduate Report, seminars provided by Career Services, Placement Reports, etc.

Codes used to identify graduate employment status, and leaver employment and reason codes in Banner–these codes are used to clear and update students on the Quarterly Exit/Leavers/Graduate Report and the End-of-Year Graduate Report.

Employment Codes, Leaver Codes, and Other General Use Definitions

Definitions were pulled from KMS on February 25, 2011.

Suggested Student Contact Narrative (PDF)

It’s important that the student is asked the proper questions when being contacted in order to receive the information needed to properly code them in Banner–things to consider: is the student a High School Student, are they attending another school or OTC, do they plan to attend another school in the near future, have they found employment, is employment in their field of study, if not currently employed have they been employed anywhere since graduation, are they unable to work–why, do they have medical problems or family problems (child care, etc.) that keeps them from working, are they looking for work, were they seeking full-time employment upon graduation, etc. In other words there’s a lot more to obtaining a good placement status than…“Are you employed?–yes or no”.

Exit/Leavers/Graduate and End-of-Year Reports: Pointers and Help

The Exit/Leavers/Graduate Report usually, pending any unforeseen problems, shortly after the 7-Day Report has been received for TCSG and is usually given a two week suspense date. Data/codes provided by advisors is entered into Banner by Career Services.
