Hand Named Instructor of the Year
Ogeechee Technical College

Terry Hand

Terry Hand, Information Technology Instructor at Ogeechee Technical College, was recently named the College’s 2018 Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Instruction recipient. The award is an annual, statewide competition that honors the Technical College System of Georgia’s most outstanding instructors. Started in 1991, this honor recognizes technical college instructors who make significant contributions to technical education through service, innovation, and leadership in their field.

Hand, who has been an instructor at the College since 2003, will go on to represent the College at the Rick Perkins regional competition. He received a check from the Ogeechee Technical College Foundation, a plaque, and a reserved parking space for a year.

Hand said, “It is a true honor to have the opportunity to work at Ogeechee Tech. I grew up in a home of educators and got to witness the true impact of education. My mom was a high-school math instructor and on a daily basis, I would see her excitement, her passion, and her joy in knowing she was making a difference. I grew up wanting to find a career where I could make a difference. TCSG gives me the tools, support, and vision to make this dream a reality and I cannot wait to be able to share my story with others.”
