Go Build Georgia High Demand Career Scholarship

Go Build Georgia High Demand Career Scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors entering a TCSG institution in a field of study leading to a high demand career in the skilled trades. These scholarships are made available by a collaborative effort of Go Build Georgia (GBG), the Go Build Georgia Foundation and the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG). Go Build Georgia High Demand Career Scholarships can be used to cover tuition, requisite fees and materials.

Scholarships

Various civic, professional, social, and other organizations provide scholarships for deserving students. In most cases, financial aid is awarded based upon academic performance, financial need, and availability of funds. HOPE Career Grant

The HOPE Career Grant, formerly known as the Strategic Industries Workforce Development Grant, is available to Zell/Hope Grant recipients enrolled in designated programs. For additional information please click here or contact the Financial Aid Office at 912.681.5500. 

Student Access Loan (SAL)

The Student Access Loan (SAL) Program is a low interest loan program administered by Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC). The SAL is designed to assist undergraduate and technical college students who have a gap in meeting their educational costs. To apply for a Student Access Loan, a student must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid at www.fafsa.ed.gov and then wait approximately three days to allow the FAFSA to process. Once the FAFSA has been processed, you will need to visit the Student Access Loan Program page at www.gafutures.org to apply for the SAL.

Private Loans

Private loans are available to students. In order to apply for a private loan, a student must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (www.fafsa.ed.gov) and complete the application process with the lender.  OTC will work with the following lenders.


Veteran Administration (VA Benefits)

Veteran's benefits are available to qualified veterans and dependents. Application forms and assistance in filing for education benefits are available in the Financial Aid Office. For specific questions regarding individual eligibility call the VA Atlanta Regional office at 1-888-GIBILL (1-888-442-4551) or visit them at: http://www.gibill.va.gov.


Vocational Rehabilitation

The Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) provides financial assistance to students who have physical or mental disabilities and who qualify for DRS services. Students should contact their local office of the Department of Human Resources for details.

Workforce Investment Act (WIA)

WIA is a form of financial aid available to serve disadvantaged adults and dislocated adult workers. Under WIA, HOPE and PELL must be used first to pay for tuition and fees before WIA. WIA also pays for books and supplies for students who qualify as well as provide assistance with daily travel and child care.
