Ogeechee Tech Hosts
Ogeechee Technical College recently hosted a Career Fair at the College’s Occupational Studies Building on the Statesboro campus. With over 80 employers on hand attendees had a vast array of potential employers with whom to discuss career possibilities. An estimated 500 plus people visited the event to learn more about career options, including Ogeechee Tech students, students from various area high schools, and members of the general public. Many of the jobs available represent disciplines which are taught at Ogeechee Tech, making the event a perfect opportunity for OTC students to investigate future employment. Ogeechee Tech Director of Career Placement and Development, Larry Bowen, coordinated the event, and commented, “We are very happy to have so many employers here for the Career Fair. This is a great opportunity for our students to get leads on possible jobs, and it is equally as beneficial for the employers to reach many perspective employees at once.” Dr. Dawn Cartee, Ogeechee Tech President, stated, “Preparing our students for a career is our goal, and offering them the opportunity to find employment through an event right here on campus is of vital importance as well. We very much appreciate all the employers who took the time to come to this event.” Employers were very pleased with the organization of the event, as well as the turnout as evidenced by their comments which ranged from “awesome response from vendors and attendees” to “a steady flow of interested students over the entire length of the career fair. Obvious support of the fair by instructors as evidenced by the presence of instructors with their students” and finally, “attendees seemed interested and prepared, and there was a good turnout of attendees”.
