Ogeechee Tech Announces
Program Accreditation

Dr. Dawn Cartee, President of Ogeechee Technical College, announces the initial accreditation of the College’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, with a cardiac concentration, by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).  This accreditation represents a significant accomplishment for the College and the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, according to Cartee.

“Achieving accreditation validates all the hard work our instructors and staff do in assuring that our students get the very best instruction possible.  When our programs live up to the rigid standards of accrediting bodies we know that we are doing all that is possible to provide solid training for our students.  This translates into strong, capable employees once our graduates enter the workforce,” stated Cartee.

According to a release from William Horgan, CCP, President of CAAHEP, “The recent peer review conducted by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS) and CAAHEP’s Board of Directors recognizes the program’s substantial compliance with the nationally established accreditation Standards.”  Ogeechee Tech’s Sonography program’s initial accreditation is for a period of five years.  According to Dr. Jessie Strickland, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Ogeechee Tech, “Accreditation is an on-going process, and even though we have achieved this initial accreditation, our instructors will constantly assess their fulfillment of the requirements of CAAHEP to ensure uninterrupted accreditation throughout the five year period and beyond.”  “I would like to commend our Sonography instructor, Tina Welch, and others in the Imaging Sciences area for their efforts in reaching this milestone,” commented Cartee.  For more information on Diagnostic Medical Sonography, or any other program of study at Ogeechee Tech, please visit www.ogeecheetech.edu.
