OTC Dental Assisting Student
Named Hinman Scholar

Elissa Liller, a Dental Assisting Student at Ogeechee Technical College, has been named as a Hinman Scholar.  Ms. Liller is in the third quarter of the Dental Assisting program and serves as the Dental Assisting Club president.  She is employed as a dental assistant by Dr. Dale Madson of Family Practice Dental Care.  When asked about Ms. Liller, Dr. Madson replied, “Elissa is one of those special people that I look forward to working with every day."

The Hinman Dental Society, which has sponsored the Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting each year in Atlanta since 1911, has been granting scholarships to deserving Dental Assisting students since 2005.  Ms. Liller was to receive her $500 scholarship and a plaque in Atlanta at a luncheon honoring the Hinman Scholars on March 15th of this year.  Unfortunately a storm the evening before caused extensive damage to the Georgia World Congress Center and the surrounding area causing the luncheon to be cancelled.

Dental Assisting Instructor, Yvonne Jenkins, commented, “I am very proud that Elissa is part of the Dental Assisting program.  She is already a great asset to the profession of dentistry.”  Ms. Liller is scheduled to complete the Dental Assisting program in December of this year.
