Ogeechee Technical College Horticulture students recently assisted with landscaping the grounds at Claxton Nursing Home in Claxton, Georgia through a “live work project” as part of their training at the College.  The project, in addition to the landscaping, included painting and new furniture to improve the nursing home residents’ surroundings.  The project was funded by Rehobeth Missionary Baptist Church in Claxton.  Rev. David Hagan is the Pastor of the church.

Ogeechee Tech students who participated in the project were Steven Tacheny, Melanie Cannady, and Alicia Kitchens.  OTC Horticulture instructor James Price coordinated and assisted in the landscaping. “This was a great opportunity for our students to get valuable hands-on experience, while also helping out some deserving residents of Claxton Nursing Home,” stated Price.  “It should be noted that all the expense for the project was underwritten by Rehobeth Missionary Baptist Church, and that our students assisted by providing labor for the project,” Price further commented.  For more information about Horticulture, or any other program of study at Ogeechee Technical College, visit www.ogeecheetech.edu.
