Ogeechee Tech Nursing Program
Receives Approval Status for 2008/2009

The Ogeechee Technical College Practical Nursing program recently received notification of Approval Status for March 2008 to March 2009 from the Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Practical Nurses, according to Dr. Dawn Cartee, President of Ogeechee Tech.  In correspondence received from Brig Zimmerman, Executive Director of the Board of Examiners, the Ogeechee Tech program was awarded approval for the upcoming year based upon the Annual Report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2007.  “We are always pleased when one of our programs receives recognition of their hard work in the form of approval through their State oversight organization,” stated Cartee.

In other correspondence related to the Ogeechee Tech Practical Nursing program, Marcia L. Stevens, R.N., Nursing Education Consultant for the Office of the Secretary of State, announced the pass rate for the OTC Nursing program for calendar year 2007 was 93.9% for first-time takers.  The annualized licensing examination passing percentage rate for the State of Georgia was 92.2% for first-time takers.  Dr. Jessie Strickland, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Ogeechee Tech commented on the pass rate, “It is noteworthy that our nursing pass rate is better than the state average.  Our faculty works hard to ensure that our students have a solid academic foundation for taking the board examination, and this successful pass rate is validation of that effort for our students, our instructors, and our nursing program in general.”
