PBL Members and Advisors
Over the weekend, Phi Beta Lambda members and advisors from Ogeechee Technical College attended a state competition in Atlanta. Most of Georgia’s technical colleges and some four-year colleges that have PBL organizations sent members to the competition to represent their colleges. PBL President Tracey McCoy, PBL Vice President Ann Henry, and PBL Treasurer Kyler Miller Exley, represented Ogeechee Technical College and competed in various events. Advisors Cindi Mills and Jessica Sanders accompanied the students on the trip. Students who place first and second at the state competition move on to represent Georgia in the national competition that will be held in Atlanta during the last week of June. At this competition, all 50 states will send their first and second place winners to compete in over 50 events. “As advisors for the organization, we are pleased to announce that Ogeechee Technical College will be representing our state at the national competition,” said Cindi Mills. The following students will be going to Atlanta in June to show that Ogeechee Tech produces winners: Tracey McCoy, who won first place in Sales Presentation, and who prepared a 10 minute sales presentation, was required to compete in front of at least three judges. Tracey’s presentation was awarded first place out of five competitors! Tracey is a Business and Office Technology student and is concentrating her studies in the medical office area. Kyler Miller Exley took second place in Computer Concepts. Kyler took a written test over the information learned in the computer concepts class. His score was the second highest in the state out of more than 15 test-takers. Kyler is a CIS student concentrating in Microcomputer Applications. Kyler also won third place in Networking Concepts, which also required a written test over the information learned in the Networking Concepts class. His score was the third highest in the state out of more than 15 test-takers. He will represent Georgia in this event should one of the top two winners be unable to attend the national competition.
