OTC Instructor Speaks to Students at Pinewood Christian Academy

Pinewood Christian Academy students learn about the importance of proper hand washing.

Alana Waters, a Patient Care Assisting instructor at Ogeechee Technical College, recently visited the 3rd grade class at Pinewood Christian Academy in Bellville.  Waters spoke with the students about the importance of proper hand washing.  She conducted an experiment using a special powder that simulates germs.  The students washed their hands using different techniques and then checked for remaining germs using a black light.  The results really surprised the students.  Waters explained how proper hand washing is the best way to prevent the spread of infection, and she also gave a lesson on how to effectively wash your hands for at least 20 seconds.  After the demonstration, the students enjoyed hand-shaped cupcakes.  For more information about the Patient Care Assisting program at Ogeechee Tech, visit our website at www.ogeecheetech.edu.
