SEB Middle School Students
Ogeechee Technical College played host to approximately 250 students from Southeast Bulloch Middle School during the week of March 3 through 7. Stay in School coordinator at Ogeechee Tech, Jeanne Anne Marsh, arranged the visit and conducted tours and testing for the students. Marsh was assisted by a number of other Ogeechee Tech faculty and staff. The campus visits allowed the students to take assessment tests to determine their areas of career interest, and also exposed them to many of the programs of study at the College. Instructors explained a variety of programs and answered questions which the students posed. “It is very important for students to at least have an idea of an area of interest prior to entering high school. Knowing which subject areas to concentrate on in high school can help build a stronger foundation for education after high school,” stated Marsh. “For example, a student interested in the health field should be aware that a strong foundation in sciences will benefit them when they get to college level chemistry, anatomy, and other related courses,” Marsh concluded. Ogeechee Tech conducts tours for middle and high school students on a regular basis, as well as traveling to many schools in the area with program showcases which highlight some of the program options available at Ogeechee Tech.
