Laura Nottingham, an Ogeechee Technical College Sonography student, has been chosen one of five recipients of the 2008 Alan D. Waggoner American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) Sonographer Scholarship.  Nottingham previously completed an Imaging Science Service Assistant certificate at Ogeechee Tech, before enrolling in the College’s Sonography program with a projected graduation date of Summer 2009. An official announcement of the award will be made at the 2008 ASE Scientific Sessions in Toronto, Canada in June.

As a winner, Nottingham will be presented $1000 toward tuition expenses, will receive a one-year complimentary subscription to the Journal of American Society of Echocardiography (JASE), and will receive complimentary registration for the 2008 conference in June, along with airfare/travel expense reimbursement up to $500.

Nottingham is married, and commutes to Ogeechee Tech from Savannah.  She received her B.A. from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg, Virginia.  Echocardiography instructor, Jane Stanley, commented about Nottingham, “She is a great asset to the Echo program, and we are extremely proud of the honor that the ASE has given her.”  Nottingham is no stranger to awards as she was the 2007 Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) winner for Ogeechee Tech.
