OTC Student Participates in Forum

OTC Student Participates in Forum.

Ogeechee Technical College Student Leadership Council vice-president, Amanda Smith, recently participated in the Georgia Student Leadership Forum in Atlanta.  The Forum brought students together from a variety of colleges and universities across the state to learn leadership skills and to participate in a humanitarian project.  Former Governor Joe Frank Harris hosted the attendees, and promoted servant leadership to the group.

As part of a service project, Amanda participated in Med Share, a volunteer organization which packs and ships medical supplies to third world countries.  Many of the supplies which Amanda and the group packed during her stay were destined for Haiti in support of the earthquake relief efforts.  “It was great to learn about leadership skills, and taking part in such a worthwhile project as packing medical supplies was an awesome experience,” stated Smith.

The Georgia Student Leadership Forum is an annual event.  Smith is a Veterinary Technology student at Ogeechee Tech.
