Ogeechee Technical College hosted the Family Night literacy event on the College campus on October 30. Targeting all age groups, the event celebrated literacy with children’s activities which involved reading and free books, and authors were on hand to discuss their books and read excerpts to those in attendance. Everyone from toddlers to adults found something of interest at the event.

Dr. Lynn Futch, Dean of Library Services at Ogeechee Tech, coordinated the event which was part of activities surrounding Statesboro, the Write Place, which is a community-wide festival promoting literacy, writing, and reading. Special guests at Ogeechee Tech’s Family Night were authors Annette Laing, Anne B. Jones, and NASCAR champion, Rex White, who was the subject of a book by Dr. Jones.
