After recently winning the gold at the Georgia SkillsUSA state conference in Quiz Bowl and Industrial Motor Control, Ogeechee Technical College students traveled to compete at the national level in Kansas City, Missouri, at the Skills USA National Leadership and Skills Conference, where they once again earned the top Quiz Bowl honor.
Ogeechee Tech was represented by a Quiz Bowl team of James Parry, Kali Wasdin, Jason Phillips, Elizabeth Baker, Christopher Vandenberg, and Ian Winsemius. Dusty Sheppard represented Ogeechee Tech in the Industrial Motor Controls competition. Accompanying these students were advisors, Allen McDaniel, Shane Todd, Kelli Waters, and Terry Hand, as well as Georgia SkillsUSA President and Ogeechee Tech student, Jennifer Ensley.
After a tough competition, the Ogeechee Tech Quiz Bowl team successfully secured the gold medal in the national competition.
In addition to the competition, the students were able to participate in a vendor expo and several seminars.
The SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference is a four day, $35 million event that showcases career and technical education students and has an attendance of more than 15,000 students and advisors from all over the United States. SkillsUSA serves more than 300,000 students and instructors each year in more than 13,000 school chapters.
