New Ogeechee Tech Officer Sworn In
In a recent ceremony held at the Bulloch County Judicial Annex, Ogeechee Technical College Law Enforcement instructor, Jim Mitchell, was officially sworn in as an officer of the Ogeechee Technical College Police Department. Superior Court Judge, Gates Peed, performed the ceremony. Mitchell has been an instructor at the College’s Law Enforcement Academy for several years. As a fully certified officer, Mitchell will serve as the campus police officer for Ogeechee Tech’s Hagan campus and perform the normal duties of a police officer there, in addition to his responsibilities as a law enforcement academy instructor. In attendance at the ceremony were several Ogeechee Tech administrators and staff. Ogeechee Technical College’s Chief, Jeff Smith, praised Mitchell’s qualifications and willingness to serve in this additional capacity. Mitchell’s position is a direct result of the increase in the number of students and usage of the Hagan facility. Chief Smith stated that there would definitely be a heightened awareness of security on this campus as a result of this action.
