Michele Rupar joins Ogeechee Tech Faculty

Ogeechee Technical College’s new Funeral Service Education instructor is Michele Rupar. She is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in the state of Georgia, and a licensed funeral director in the state of Ohio. Certified as a Grief Counselor, she holds a Masters in Psychology. Michele is a graduate of John Carroll University and holds a BA in Sociology with a concentration in Cultural Diversity. She has an Associate degree in Funeral Service Education from Ogeechee Technical College.
According to Michele, “My focus and studies have been in Death & Dying and Critical Illness in Children. In 1999, I was the Third Place winner of The North Central Sociological Association Undergraduate Student Paper Competition for a controversial paper I wrote on ‘Same-Sex Domestic violence: Social and Political Issues.’ I represented the North East Ohio Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of America as their Team-In-Training Honorary Patient Ambassador from 1993-1997, where I served as their Key Note Speaker delivering motivational speeches at events hosted in Chicago, Illinois, Albuquerque, New Mexico, San Diego, California and Anchorage, Alaska.”
In addition, Michele has lectured at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio where she taught medical professionals about “Parenting a Child with Critical Illness” and “Death & Dying from a Parent’s Perspective.” She served on the Board of University Hospital’s Rainbow Babies & Children’s Family Faculty (Cleveland, OH) from 1993 – 1998, where she advised and advocated for families with critically ill children.
“I am a mother of four grown children and a grandmother of six. I view my role as a mother as the most rewarding of all,” said Michele. She currently resides in Springfield, GA with her husband David and she is a member of the Springfield United Methodist Church. Please welcome Michele Rupar to Ogeechee Tech!
