Let's clear the air: Ogeechee Technical College is not your father's 'vocational school'. Far from it. Today's Ogeechee Tech offers premier programs and specialised training in a wide array of exciting career fields, with options as broad as the industries they serve. Your choices are progressive and comprehensive, delivering relevant material from a very important perspective - reality. You're not simply taught theory; you learn the practical application of your education every day. We are excited that you are interested in Ogeechee Technical College!

Below you will find some useful information to help guide you through
the enrollment process and to answer any questions you may have.


1. Be at least 16 years of age.

Check the Catalog and Student Handbook for individual program age requirements.

2. Submit an application for admissions online. APPLY ONLINE!
Former students that have not been enrolled at OTC for at least two consecutive terms must complete an application for readmission. If you are a new student and do not want to apply online, you may complete the
application for admission, then mail, fax, or deliver it to the college using the contact information below.

3. Submit a $25 nonrefundable application fee.
Submit official copies of your high school or GED transcripts. Transcripts must have your date of graduation in order to be considered official. If you are currently in high school, please note the date of expected graduation on the application; upon graduating please have your counselor mail us your final high school transcript. Transcripts may be submitted to:

4. Official high school or GED transcripts must be in your admissions file prior to acceptance. Official high school or GED transcripts are not required of applicants who have received an Associate's degree or higher from a regionally accredited postsecondary institution or those who have earned 30 semester or 45 quarter credit hours of degree level postsecondary credit from a regionally accredited postsecondary institution.

If you received your high school diploma from a country outside of the United States, your document must be evaluated to show U.S. equivalency.

5. Submit official copies of transcripts from all postsecondary institutions you have attended to:

To be awarded transfer credit, courses must be taken at a nationally or regionally accredited institution, be comparable in nature to OTC courses, and must have a grade of "C" or higher. Some courses have time limits for transfer. You must also complete and submit a Transfer/Articulated Credit Evaluation Form and submit to the Registrar's Office.

6. Submit either:

  • COMPASS, ASSET, SAT, or ACT test results (5 years old or less), or
  • A transcript from an accredited post secondary institution with a grade of 'C' or better in English and/or Math equivalent to the level of program you are applying for. If you cannot submit the information above:
  • Contact the Admissions Office to schedule and take the COMPASS placement exam at 912.688.6994.

alt7. Apply for Financial Aid.
You may pick up forms and information on HOPE, PELL, VA or other financial aid at our Financial Aid Office or click here for additional information.

8. NEW! Verification of Lawful Presence in the United States

Effective January 1, 2012, all students applying for in-state tuition must provide validation of lawful presence in the United States. The following documents will serve as proof of lawful presence in the United States and documentation will be required before you are eligible for consideration of in-state tuition:

  • A current Driver's License issued by the State of Georgia after January 1, 2008.
  • A current ID issued by the State of Georgia after January 1, 2008.
  • A current Driver’s License or ID issued by a state that verifies immigration status and only issues to persons lawfully present in the United States.   • A certified U.S. Birth Certificate showing the student was born in the U.S. or a U.S. territory. A photocopy is not acceptable
  • An approved completed FAFSA for the current financial aid year. 
  • A current, valid Permanent Resident Card (USCIS form 1-151 or 1-551).
  • A U.S. Certificate of Birth Abroad issued by the Department of State (DS-1350) or a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (FS-240)
  • A current U.S. Passport.
  • A U.S. Certificate of Citizenship (USCIS form N-560 or N-561).
  • A U.S. Certificate of Naturalization (USCIS form N-550 or N-570).

Any student who cannot be verified as lawfully present in the United States is not eligible to be considered for in-state tuition, regardless of how long he or she has lived in Georgia. In addition to being lawfully present in the United States, students must meet the in-state tuition requirements as outlined in TCSG Board Policy and Procedure V.B.3 to warrant an in-state classification. Students that are initially classified as out-of-state, and successfully petition to have their residency changed to in-state also have to meet the verification requirement.

9. Once accepted, you will receive an acceptance letter and an advisement information sheet.
The advisement information sheet will inform you of all the scheduled advisement/registration sessions. You need to attend an advisement/registration session to visit with your advisor and to register for your classes.

10. Attend a new student orientation. You will be notified of orientation dates once accepted.

11. Attend class!
