Mission of High School Initiatives

To provide high school students an opportunity to participate in a seamless educational system that includes high-level academic and technical preparation for workforce readiness and lifelong learning. It is a program which provides a student with an individual career plan; incorporates academic and career-related courses aligned (articulated) between secondary and post secondary level and; leads to a college certificate, diploma, associate degree or apprenticeship. Students may take advantage of the Tech Prep program from Ogeechee Technical College in three ways: Dual Enrollment | Joint Enrollment | Move On When Ready

What is dual enrollment?

Dual enrollment allows high school students to begin a post secondary program in their chosen career field while they are still in high school. It allows students to earn credit at both the high school and the technical college while they are still in high school. Courses are taught by an Ogeechee Technical College instructor. To be eligible to participate in dual enrollment, students must meet all technical college admission requirements for their selected program (such as testing and age requirements).

What is joint enrollment?

Joint enrollment is when a high school student takes college credit courses while attending high school. The college credit received is only counted at the college. The admissions and funding issues are the same as for dual enrollment.
