Neuromuscular Massage Therapy Instructor

Anita Brown studied massage therapy in California and North Carolina, and has been a Licensed Massage Therapist in Statesboro since 2004. She has over 10,000 hours of hands on experience. During her career, she has worked in her own private practice, in salons, in a spa, and at Georgia Southern University’s RAC facility. In 2014, she graduated with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology from Georgia Southern University. She joined Ogeechee Technical College in 2014 to launch the Neuromuscular Massage Therapy program. Anita brings years of passion and excitement for the field of massage and bodywork to her teaching. She lives in Statesboro with her husband and two sons.

  1. Provide an environment which encourages the individual to benefit and contribute as a partner in the economic progress, development, and stability of Georgia.
  2. Provide education which develops the potential of each student to become a productive, responsible, and upwardly mobile member of society.
  3. Prepare graduates to possess necessary knowledge to successfully become Licensed Massage Therapists.
  4. Prepare graduates to function as safe, competent, and ethical practitioners in various health care settings.
  5. Foster employer participation, understanding, and confidence in the instructional process and the competence of the Neuromuscular Massage Therapist program graduates.
  6. Prepare students to function as accountable and responsible members of a health care team concerned with basic therapeutic, rehabilitative, and preventative care for people of all ages and cultural diversities in various stages of dependencies.
  7. Prepare graduates to function within the definition and framework of their role specified by the Georgia State Board of Massage Therapy.  
  8. Prepares graduates with knowledge necessary to create professional development plans for continued education.
  9. Educate students to maintain their physical and emotional health.

Program Mission

The purpose of the Ogeechee Tech Neuromuscular Massage Therapist program is to provide learning opportunities for students to develop the academic and professional knowledge and skills necessary to pass the state approved licensing examination and to successfully apply skills in the field of massage therapy.
