Ogeechee Technical College was voted as having the “Best Instructor,” Yvonne Jenkins, and “Best Driving School” by the readers of the Statesboro Herald for the 2022 Best of the Boro contest.

This is the third year in a row that an instructor from Ogeechee Technical College has won the Best of the Boro “Best Instructor” category. Dr. Ryan Foley, Executive VP for Academic and Student Affairs, is not surprised by the ongoing success of his instructors.

“Honestly, I’m not surprised that Yvonne was named best instructor. She’s been deserving of that award for many years,” said Foley. “The Dental Assisting program at OTC has flourished under her leadership and the students that graduate from her program see immediate success in their field.”

Jenkins, who serves as OTC’s Dental Assisting Program Director, has been an instructor at OTC for over 21 years. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree from the Medical College of Georgia and has over 30 years of experience in the dental field, both in private practice and as an educator. Jenkins is a Certified Dental Assistant and a Registered Dental Hygienist.

As for the driving school at Ogeechee Technical College, this is the fourth year in a row that the school has earned the top vote in the Best of the Boro contest.

“We are honored to be recognized as the best driving school in this area for the fourth year in a row,” said Dawn Oliver, Director for Continuing Education at OTC. “Our students learn a lot in our program and enjoy themselves too. It’s important to instill safety and confidence in young drivers behind the wheel and we are happy to do our part.”
