OTC Students Gain Global Experience Through Exchange Program

Posted on May 28, 2025 at 11:36 AM

Three Ogeechee Technical College students recently returned from a three-week exchange program in Germany, where they studied and job-shadowed in the city of Dortmund through a partnership with Leopold-Hoesch Berufskolleg, a local vocational college.

Joe Hall and David Taylor, students in OTC’s Automotive Technology program, and Dawson Hosti, a Manufacturing Engineering Technology student, spent time gaining hands-on experience in leading industries within the Dortmund area. This marks the third consecutive year OTC students have participated in the international exchange.

During the trip, the students had the opportunity to job-shadow professionals at Mercedes and WILO, a multinational technology group recognized as a global leader in pumps and pump systems. In addition to attending classes at Leopold-Hoesch, they explored several historic and culturally significant sites throughout Germany.

“This is such an amazing opportunity for our students,” said Tiffany Manning Collins, an English instructor at OTC who has accompanied students on previous trips. “They not only get a chance to broaden their career outlooks, but also to immerse themselves in another culture.”

OTC Automotive Technology instructor, Logan Jones, served as the faculty advisor for this year’s exchange program and also had the opportunity to travel with the students to Dortmund.
