14 Students Receive Practical Nursing Pins in Biannual Ceremony

On July 28, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. in the Joseph E. Kennedy Auditorium, 14 dedicated students in the Practical Nursing program celebrated their achievements at Ogeechee Technical College’s biannual pinning ceremony.
Instructors Angel Shuman, RN BSN, Felicia Barefoot, RN, ASN, Renea Durrence, RN, BSN, and Liz Whipple, RN, BSN, presented each student with the iconic nursing pin, symbolic of their clinical excellence, unwavering dedication, and official entry into the nursing profession.
"Our pinning ceremonies mark a significant achievement for our graduating students as we celebrate their accomplishments, resilience, and dedication to the nursing profession," said Angel Shuman, Practical Nursing Program Director. “We are proud of their success and look forward to the positive impact they will make in healthcare and in our community.”
A highlight of the evening was a special tribute from the Ogeechee Region Nurse Honor Guard, which presented each graduate with a white rose in recognition of their commitment and service. The Honor Guard also joined attendees in the recitation of the Nightingale Pledge, the timeless oath marking their formal dedication to the ideals of nursing.
