OTC Hosts Successful Blood Drive

Posted on Feb 25, 2026 at 17:08 PM

The Cybersecurity, OTC Wildlife and FBLA clubs at Ogeechee Technical College (OTC) joint hosted a blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross of Southeast and Coastal Georgia on February 19, in the Oak Room of the Jack Hill Building.

The Red Cross team collected 47 units of blood during the event, successfully exceeding the drive’s goal of 32. With each unit having the potential to save up to three lives, this effort could positively impact as many as 141 patients in need.

Student volunteers from several OTC clubs helped support the drive, including SLC, Cybersecurity, FBLA, NTHS, Rad Tech, SkillsUSA, and Wildlife clubs.
To date, OTC has hosted 61 drives, collected 1,944 units of blood, and registered 2,250 total donors, averaging 32 units per drive.

Beckie Snyder, Administrative Assistant for the Vice President of Student Affairs had a message for those who donated.

"Every drop you gave becomes a lifeline for someone in need. We’re deeply grateful.” said Beckie Snyder, Administrative Assistant for VPSA.

Ogeechee on the Go is the name of Ogeechee Technical College’s community service initiative. OTC students and employees routinely participate in projects designed to support worthwhile causes within the community.
