OTC Hosts Successful Summer Blood Drive
Posted on Jun 16, 2025 at 8:21 AM
The Student Leadership Council (SLC) at Ogeechee Technical College (OTC) hosted a summer blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross of Southeast and Coastal Georgia on Wednesday, June 11, in the Oak Room of the Jack Hill Building.
The Red Cross team collected 22 units of blood during the event, successfully meeting the drive’s goal. With each unit having the potential to save up to three lives, this effort could positively impact as many as 66 patients in need.
Student volunteers from several OTC clubs helped support the drive, including Cybersecurity, Radiologic Technology, SCNAVTA, and SLC.
To date, OTC has hosted 58 drives, collected 1,830 units of blood, and registered 2,121 total donors, averaging 32 units per drive.
The college’s next blood drive is scheduled for Monday, August 26, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., in the Jack Hill Oak Room. Those interested in donating can register at www.redcrossblood.org.
Ogeechee on the Go is the name of Ogeechee Technical College’s community service initiative. OTC students and employees routinely participate in projects designed to support worthwhile causes within the community.
