“The students who have had the opportunity to use our newly renovated library have commented on how much brighter the space is and how it has improved their productivity,” said Lisa Lanier, Director for Library Services. “The circulation desk gives the library a welcoming entry and the large screen behind the desk provides updated information about OTC.”

The expansion of the library has allowed for more work and study spaces, meeting rooms, and nearly $300,000 in new and upgraded equipment for student use.

“Three of our new areas have become popular for studying - the large screen collaboration rooms, the large study room off the computer lab, and the new circular cubicle study carrells. The new computers, printers, and electronic charging stations have also been used frequently since our space was opened,” added Lanier.

The renovation project which was started in June of this year was completed at the beginning of fall semester. The modified campus hours due to COVID-19 allowed construction crews additional unencumbered time to ensure the project was completed for fall classes.

Jeff Davis, VP for Technology and Institutional Support has overseen the completion of several renovation projects during 2020 at Ogeechee Tech. “Despite the hurdles we have faced in the last year, it has been wonderful to witness the completion of three major renovations in our Joseph E. Kennedy building,” said Davis. “The library renovation is special because it affords us the opportunity to better educate and train students in all of our programs and prepare them for careers in today’s workforce.”
