Ogeechee On The Go – Ogeechee Tech launches OASIS food pantry

Beckie Snyder, Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Student Affairs, collaborated with other Ogeechee Technical College staff to launch the OASIS (Outreach Assisting Students in Shortage) Food Pantry earlier this month.

OASIS was opened in January to serve OTC students in need. Snyder said that her idea for OASIS developed while working in Student Affairs at OTC with Emergency Assistance funds. “I’ve seen the need for food assistance in our community while working with a local soup kitchen, and I began to recognize that same need here on our campus,” said Snyder.

The food pantry has already received over 25 requests for assistance. While the name OASIS lends itself to specifically helping OTC students, the pantry is also available to any OTC faculty or staff that may have needs.

If you or anyone you know at OTC needs assistance, please direct them to this link to fill out a food pantry request, or have them email Beckie Snyder at bsnyder@ogeecheetech.edu.

If you would like to donate food items to help keep the pantry stocked, email Beckie Snyder.
Items needed the most include – peanut butter, jelly, pancake mix, pancake syrup, dry pasta, spaghetti sauce, Manwich sauce, rice, ramen, macaroni & cheese, canned fruit, oatmeal, grits, canned peas, tuna, and canned chicken.

Ogeechee on the Go is the name of Ogeechee Technical College’s community service initiative. OTC students and employees routinely participate in projects designed to support worthwhile causes within the community.
