Sawhill Appointed to Executive Board

Matt Sawhill, Area Manager for Georgia Power Company in Statesboro, was recently appointed to the Executive Board of Trustees for the Ogeechee Technical College Foundation. As Area Manager at Georgia Power, Sawhill is responsible for external affairs in 11 counties throughout Southeast Georgia. OTC’s Vice President for College Advancement, Barry Turner, said, “We are excited to have Matt join our board of trustees. I’m sure his experience and insight will be beneficial to the Foundation.”
Sawhill previously worked for two United States Senators, Zell Miller and Saxby Chambliss. After several years of government service, he lobbied on behalf of the Georgia Electric Membership Cooperative and spent over 10 years working in Government/Community Affairs and Economic Development for AGL Resources/Southern Company Gas.
He was formerly on the Board of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, and was chairman of the Georgia Parks, Recreation, and Historic Sites. Currently, Sawhill is an advisor to the Georgia Department of Economic Development. Locally, he serves on the Boards for the Statesboro Rotary Club, the United Way of Southeast Georgia, and Blue Mile Foundation.
A graduate of the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business, Sawhill was named in 2014 as one of the University of Georgia’s 40 Under 40. He was a graduate of Leadership Georgia the same year.
Sawhill and his wife Mary, both natives of Rome, Georgia, are the proud parents of two children, Caroline and Towns. They have been active at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Atlanta, the Leukemia Lymphoma Society of Georgia, and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.
