Ogeechee Technical College awarded a total of 10 pins, six in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) and four in Echocardiography, in an annual pinning ceremony held at 6:00 pm in the Joseph E. Kennedy Auditorium on December 7.

Tina Welch, program director and instructor, welcomed the audience of friends and family and had high praise for this year’s pin recipients, “These girls have overcome all of the challenges they’ve had as we’ve moved through this adventure. Tonight, we recognize these girls as they pass from student to the Sonography and Cardiac Imagining professional that they have become.”

Rachael Daniels, a DMS pin recipient addressed the crowd on behalf of her fellow graduates.

“I would describe this program as invigorating, there is nothing quite like the hug of a patient, or the pat on the back of an instructor to boost one’s confidence. This program instills an “I can do this mentality’, and for that I am very thankful,” said Daniels.

Following Daniels was Brynn Durrence, an Echocardiography pin recipient, who addressed the crowd on behalf of her fellow graduates.

“This program taught me I am a lot tougher and braver than I ever imagined,” said Durrence. “I want to recognize Ms. Mitchell for giving us the tools and foundation we needed to learn to make critical decisions while out at clinic.”

The six students who received their pins in DMS were: Taneshia Clark, Brianna Davis, Rachael Daniels, Shelby Duncan, Johnna Hicks, Zoe Pratt. The four students who received their pins in Echocardiography were: Brynn Durrence, Molly Simmons, Samantha Rivers, and Tammy Graham.
