Ogeechee Technical College (OTC) launched its 2026 “I Give to Ogeechee Tech” (iGot) fundraising campaign with kickoff events held Feb. 10 in Screven County and Feb. 17 in Evans County. The Bulloch County iGot kickoff is scheduled for March 19 in the Jack Hill Building on OTC’s Statesboro campus.
Each year, funds raised through the iGot campaign support critical needs across the college, including student scholarships, emergency student aid, the adult literacy program, GED testing scholarships, classroom and lab equipment, and campus expansion.
The final kickoff event on March 19 will begin with a volunteer breakfast before participants are sent out into the local community to visit businesses and gather support for the campaign. Volunteers are still needed for the event and can sign up at https://www.ogeecheetech.edu/foundation/make-a-donation.
“This campaign does not happen without the unwavering support of our volunteers,” said Larry Mays, Vice President for College Advancement. “Each kickoff gives us the opportunity to celebrate our students and donors, and then equip and send volunteers into their communities to help raise much-needed support for our students.”
Part of that preparation includes hearing firsthand stories from students who have benefited from past iGot campaigns. Alecia Johnson, a student in OTC’s Nursing program, has shared how the support she received helped her pursue her dream of working in healthcare.
“I like to quote Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.: ‘Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase,’” said Johnson. “After witnessing my grandfather suffer a stroke and feeling helpless in that moment, I knew a career in healthcare was for me. Pursuing nursing meant stepping out in faith, even when I didn’t always know how I would pay for school. Thankfully, the OTC Foundation helped me take the next step on my journey.”
The iGot campaign will conclude at the We Are OTC celebration on April 2 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Market at Visit Statesboro. The event will recognize friends and alumni of OTC while celebrating the campaign’s fundraising success.
