Adult Education & Family Literacy week about celebrating resiliency

Posted on Sep 21, 2020 at 14:52 PM

Ogeechee Technical College celebrates Adult Education & Family Literacy Week, September 20 – 26.

This year, Ogeechee Tech’s recognition of Adult Education & Family Literacy Week is a celebration of the students within each community who have persevered during the pandemic and continue to pursue their educational goals.

“We can all say that COVID-19 has impacted every area of our lives,” said Samantha Smith, Dean of Adult Education. “I am so proud to say that one thing that has not changed has been OTC’s commitment to our students and the communities that we serve. The Adult Education program has continued to serve students through the continued delivery of services in Bulloch, Evans and Screven counties.”

This week, OTC’s Adult Education program will share student stories through their social media and on their website. Dean Smith hopes that the stories will serve as additional encouragement to others who may be contemplating starting or continuing their adult education journey.

“I have been impressed with our students since the pandemic began, they have shown a level of resiliency that goes unmatched. Our instructors had to make several changes to ensure the safety of our campus community and the students responded and adapted quickly,” stated Smith.
