Dental Assisting Students Promote Good Oral Health to Pre-K Classrooms
Posted on Mar 09, 2026 at 15:29 PM
In celebration of National Children’s Dental Health Month, Ogeechee Technical College dental assisting students visited more than 325 children at local pre-K classrooms on Tuesday, Feb. 24. Schools included Bulloch Academy, Claxton Elementary, Julia P. Bryant Elementary, Langston Chapel Elementary, Sally Zetterower Elementary, and Southeast Bulloch Elementary.
Each group of Dental Assisting students was responsible for creating its own presentation and educating students about oral health and nutrition. They played games and talked about “sugar bugs” (bacterial plaque), proper brushing habits, flossing, their first trip to the dentists, and which snacks are good or not-so-good.
Yvonne Jenkins, OTC Dental Assisting Program Director, said she was pleased with her students’ efforts.
“We’re grateful for the opportunity to share this information with children,” Jenkins said. “Starting strong dental health habits early helps set the foundation for lifelong oral health.”
