Early Childhood Care and Education Program hosts Story Book Walk

Posted on Apr 22, 2026 at 10:50 AM

Ogeechee Technical College’s Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) program recently hosted a Story Book Walk installation on campus, creating an interactive literacy experience for local schools, families, and community members.

The Story Book Walk featured Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do I See? by Eric Carle, displayed page-by-page along a designated walking path that wound both indoors and outdoors across campus. The installation encouraged participants to read as they moved, combining early literacy development with physical activity in a fun, engaging way.

“The Story Book Walk initiative positions OTC and ECCE as a leader in literacy, community engagement, and workforce development, while creating a fun, interactive experience for the region,” said Paula Clifton, ECCE instructor.

The Story Book Walk was designed to serve multiple audiences while supporting the college’s broader mission. For Ogeechee Tech, the installation enhanced campus visibility, supported student recruitment, and provided hands-on learning opportunities for ECCE students. For the community, it offered a free and accessible activity that promotes literacy, family engagement, and healthy habits.

To maintain interest and encourage repeat visits, ECCE will host the Story Book Walk each semester while changing the featured book, offering new stories and experiences throughout the year.
