Hurricane Supplies Delivered to Southwest Georgia

Students, faculty, and staff at Ogeechee Technical College recently partnered with Bulloch Academy to collect and deliver needed supplies to victims heavily impacted by Hurricane Michael. Ogeechee Tech General Education instructors, Susan Pope and Matthew Gainous, spearheaded the project.

Pope, who is originally from southwest Georgia, said, “I was touched by the generosity of everyone, especially the students, who donated. I heard story after story of students who said they had been given help at some point in their lives, or even most of their lives, and they are now in a position to help someone else. It just warmed my heart to witness the support.” Multiple trailers and trucks loaded with much needed supplies were delivered to residents of Blakely, Seminole, and Miller Counties, three of the most impacted Georgia counties. Pope said, “It is important for students to be involved in community service projects to see how they can benefit others, especially during a crisis.”
