Ogeechee Technical College was voted as having the Best Instructor, Elizabeth Goode, and best Driving School by the readers of the Statesboro Herald for the 2020 Best of the Boro contest.

Goode, who teaches in the Esthetician program, has been an instructor at Ogeechee Tech since Fall of 2019. Neal Owens, Dean for Academic Affairs says that her ability to teach and innovate has made the Esthetician program very popular.

“She has an extraordinary passion for teaching students in her field,” said Owens. “I have observed her go above and beyond in promoting her program and OTC in our community. She is constantly thinking of new and innovative ideas to bring fun to learning and to take her classes to the next level.”

Before joining the team at OTC, Goode worked as a paralegal for six years before she decided to follow her passion for the beauty industry. "I graduated from OTC in 2014 as a Master Cosmetologist and went to work for Sassy Hair," said Goode. "I love working with the public and teaching others to love the skin they are in. Teaching in creative and inventive ways is my passion and I enjoy helping students learn and retain the skills they need to succeed in our industry."

As for the driving school at Ogeechee Technical College, this is the second year in a row that the school has earned the top vote in the Best of the Boro contest.

“We are honored to be recognized as the best driving school in this area,” said Jan Moore, VP for Economic Development. “We work very hard to give our students a comprehensive experience touching on the many facets of operating an automobile, from basic vehicle maintenance to the dangers of driving impaired. It means a great deal to us that young, new drivers leave our program prepared to drive safely. It benefits our entire community.”
