Makika Kelly to Represent OTC as EAGLE Delegate

Makika Kelly, a graduate of Ogeechee Technical College’s Adult Education Program, has been selected to represent Ogeechee Tech at the EAGLE (Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education) Leadership Institute to be held in Atlanta. The Leadership Institute, a three-day event, recognizes and honors students who have demonstrated superior achievement in adult education classes and programs, and provides them with sessions to develop leadership skills.

After a tough start in life, Makika Kelly lacked a job she wanted, the education she needed, and the confidence to pursue her dreams. All of this changed when she enrolled in the Ogeechee Technical College Adult Education Program.

Kelly said, “Completing this program and obtaining my GED® has given me the confidence I never knew I had. I feel as though I am on top of the world.” She earned her GED® in March 2019.

Sharon Ellis, the nominating instructor, said, “Makika has had so many obstacles in her life she has overcome. Her faith has kept her humble and her attitude uplifts anyone she encounters. Earning her GED® has helped position her a step closer to her goal to become an entrepreneur.”

Kelly is now enrolled in the Business Management Diploma Program at Ogeechee Tech, the next step in her journey toward running her own business.
