Statesboro Mayor, Jonathan McCollar, and the City of Statesboro recently recognized Ogeechee Technical College's Adult Education Program in celebration of Adult Education and Family Literacy Week.

Samantha Smith, Dean for Adult Education, addressed the council and community about the importance of adult education and its impact on the local workforce. Students and instructors were in attendance to hear some of the city's plans for workforce and economic development opportunities in Statesboro.

"It's important for me to expose my students to every aspect of this community.  This is their city. They will live, work and raise families here," Dean Smith said. "Together we can ensure that they'll have the resources to do that successfully. Thank you, Mayor McCollar, for this opportunity."
