NTHS Pinning Ceremony: Success Favors the Prepared Mind

The National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) at Ogeechee Technical College recently conducted a pinning ceremony in the Joseph E. Kennedy auditorium to induct 17 new members into the organization. The organization advisor and Early Childhood Care and Education program director, Mrs. Paula Clifton, began with the opening statement and welcome. NTHS President, Robert Woodie, led the pledge of allegiance before NTHS Historian, Ruth Atchley, delivered a speech on the organization’s purpose, member benefits, and scholarship opportunities. All current officers participated in a candle ceremony to educate the audience on the organization’s member attributes: skill, honesty, service, responsibility, scholarship, citizenship, and leadership. NTHS Vice President, MiKayla Haigh, delivered the closing statement after all new members were pinned. A reception with family and friends followed shortly after.
The National Technical Honor Society is the official leader in acknowledging outstanding student achievement in career and technical education. The organization offers its dedicated members the ability to build career portfolios with professional letters of recommendation, recognition for academic excellence, and numerous scholarship opportunities. To date, it has awarded over $2 million in scholarships to its best and brightest members since its founding in 1984. NTHS’s agenda is to encourage the pursuit of higher education, and to cultivate academic achievement in today’s workforce.
