Ogeechee Technical College was closed Wednesday and Thursday, October 10 and 11, due to the threat of severe weather from Hurricane Michael. With the safety of students and employees of paramount importance, administrators at the College felt the most prudent course of action was to close the campus to allow for preparation for the forecast storm. In making the announcement about campus closure, Dr. Ryan Foley, Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, stated, “The safety of students, faculty, and staff is our top priority at Ogeechee Tech. Please continue to stay informed and have an emergency kit and plan for your family.”

OTC also serves as a staging location for recovery teams who work to clear roadways, restore electric power, and other post-storm follow up work. A group of Georgia Power workers utilized the College’s Natural Resources Building conference facility for a meal following the storm, prior to going out to restore electric service to much of the impacted local area.

“We are very happy that the storm did not hit our area with the intensity that was first projected, but we always want to prepare for the worst, to make sure those we serve at the College are safe,” stated Foley.
