Ogeechee Tech Team Successful in Competition

Ogeechee Technical College’s SkillsUSA team recently attended the SkillsUSA Georgia Postsecondary State Conference in Atlanta.  Twenty-three students, seven advisors, and two administrators represented the College at the annual convention. Contests in leadership, occupational, and technical science were held at Atlanta Technical College, while skilled and trade contests took place at the Georgia International Convention Center.   Ogeechee Tech’s team participated in eleven competitions and received five medals, including four gold, and one silver. 

Receiving Gold medals were Robert Woodie, Internetworking; Ryker Collins, Sheet Metal,; Ethan Harris, Dawn Lemon, and Andres Perez, Career Pathways; and Jacob Bolen, Mark Olsson, Chris Archambeault, Michael Millatte, Garet Sircy, Leigh Anne Nowicki, and Riley Mannfeld, Quiz Bowl. Mikayla Haigh won a Silver medal in Information Technology Systems. 

The faculty in attendance were Jackie Howard, Club Advisor, Allen McDaniel, Club Advisor, Norm Threatt, Chuck Davis, Terry Hand, Shane Todd, and Paula Clifton.  In addition, OTC President, Lori Durden, and Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Ryan Foley, attended to cheer on the participants. 

Each of the gold winners will advance to the National SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Conference in Louisville, Kentucky in June.
