The Ogeechee Technical College FBLA Collegiate chapter continued its impressive trajectory of national success at the 2025 National Leadership Conference held May 30 - June 3 in Dallas, Texas. The chapter's remarkable performance earned them third place nationwide in the Outstanding Chapter competition, a significant improvement from their fifth-place finish at last year's conference.
Students from the OTC chapter demonstrated exceptional skill across multiple competitive categories, bringing home impressive individual honors:
Cybersecurity: The chapter's cybersecurity team made a particularly strong showing in the Cybersecurity Objective Test competition. Richard Fountain secured second place nationally, while Andrew Mitchell earned fourth place, showcasing the college's strength in preparing students for careers in information security and technology fields.
Computer Applications Dominance: Rebecca Meredith emerged as a standout performer, capturing first place nationally in Computer Applications, a testament to her technical skills and preparation. Her versatility was further demonstrated with a sixth-place finish in Supply Chain Management Objective Test, highlighting the breadth of her business acumen.
Community Service Recognition: Brittany Meadows represented the chapter admirably in the Community Service Project Presentation category, earning eighth place nationally. This achievement reflects the chapter's commitment to service and community engagement throughout the academic year.
Four OTC students achieved the prestigious FBLA Collegiate Excellence Award at the Gold Level nationwide, recognizing their commitment to individual development and leadership activities throughout the year:
- Rebecca Meredith

- Jonathan Nava
- Justin White
These awards represent the highest level of individual achievement in FBLA Collegiate, requiring students to complete extensive leadership development activities, community service projects, and professional development initiatives.
Chapter Recognition and Leadership
The chapter's third-place national ranking in Outstanding Chapter represents the culmination of year-long dedication to the organization's mission. To achieve this recognition, the chapter completed comprehensive requirements including community service projects, fundraising initiatives, leadership development activities, and professional engagement opportunities.
The Outstanding Chapter award recognizes chapters that demonstrate "exceptional commitment to the organization's mission throughout the academic year" and requires "fulfilling a comprehensive list of tasks throughout the year to be considered for the award."
Advisor Recognition and Reflection
For the second consecutive year, Michael Twisdale, the chapter's faculty adviser and Business Technology Instructor, represented the state of Georgia in the prestigious Parade of States ceremony at the opening ceremony in Dallas. This honor recognizes Twisdale as Georgia FBLA Collegiate's Adviser of the Year, highlighting his exceptional dedication to student development and chapter leadership.
"I am incredibly proud of our students' outstanding performance at the national level," said Twisdale. "Their dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence throughout the year has been remarkable. Watching Rebecca, Brittany, Andrew, Richard, Jonathan, and Justin compete against the best collegiate business students in the nation and achieve such impressive results is truly inspiring. These students exemplify what it means to be future business leaders, and their success reflects not only their individual talents but also their collaborative spirit and unwavering work ethic."
Twisdale brings 23 years of business experience and 10 years teaching experience to his role and mentorship, having worked with reputable companies including Holiday Inn, Marriott, and Sheraton. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Georgia Southern University and a Master's in Business Administration from South University.
Building on Success
The 2025 national performance builds upon the chapter's consistent excellence. The chapter has made history as "the only one in Georgia to receive both top awards two years in a row, Chapter of the Year and Advisor of the Year" at the state level, setting a new standard for FBLA Collegiate chapters statewide.
As the chapter looks ahead, their third-place national ranking positions them well for continued growth and success, building on a foundation of academic excellence, community service, and leadership development that has become the hallmark of OTC's FBLA Collegiate program.
