OTC Hosts Inaugural Touch-a-Truck Event

Posted on Sep 17, 2026 at 13:53 PM

Ogeechee Technical College (OTC) welcomed more than 300 children, parents, teachers, vendors and community partners to its first annual Touch a Truck at the Pavilion, a community event designed to give children an up-close look at the vehicles and equipment used by local organizations and community helpers.

Nearly 20 vehicles were on display during the event, giving young explorers the opportunity to climb aboard, tour, and discover a variety of trucks and other vehicles. Children and families from Smiles, Giggles & Hugs, Kidovations, Creative Kids, Bible Baptist, and Kids World Learning Center attended, along with community partners and OTC departments.

In addition to exploring the vehicles, children received OTC gift bags and water, while vendors provided fun giveaways. A special guest appearance by Crumble, a dog from Burke County Animal Control, was also a highlight of the day.

“The event was made possible through the efforts of many OTC team members and volunteers, said Paula Clifton, Early Childhood Care and Education Program Director. “Special thanks go to Chief Tirey, Kelli Powers, our Marketing/PR Department, Amanda White, our IT Department, and the ECCE Teachers-in-Training Club student volunteers, who helped the event run smoothly.”

OTC's inaugural Touch a Truck was an opportunity for the college to connect with the community while showcasing the people and programs that make Ogeechee Tech a part of the region it serves.

OTC looks forward to making Touch a Truck an annual community event. To learn more about the Early Childhood Care and Education program at OTC, please visit www.ogeecheetech.edu/ECCE
