OTC Leaders Celebrate Georgia Pre-K Week Through Classroom Read-Alouds
Posted on Oct 13, 2026 at 9:42 AM
Paula Clifton and Marianne Nordahl of Ogeechee Technical College’s (OTC) Early Childhood Care and Education program joined college President Lori Durden and Director of Campus Safety Nathan Tirey, in visiting Pre-K classrooms to celebrate the 16th Annual Georgia Pre-K Week, held Oct. 5-9, 2026, and organized by Voices for Georgia’s Children.
During the week, OTC representatives visited Smiles, Giggles and Hugs and New Covenant Childcare in Statesboro and Metter Elementary School, bringing stories to life through engaging read-aloud experiences. They went beyond simply reading to the children by dressing in themed costumes, leading interactive activities aligned with each book and sharing plenty of OTC swag with excited students.
“This was a wonderful opportunity for me to share my passion for teaching, and to inspire curiosity in the next generation of learners,” said Clifton. “It’s always a pleasure to introduce the students to Ogeechee Tech and to highlight the possible futures they can have through technical education.”
Georgia Pre-K Week is a statewide celebration that connects state leaders, legislators, educators and community partners with Pre-K classrooms to highlight the importance of early childhood education and hear directly from those who support young learners every day.
Through experiences like these, OTC continues to demonstrate its commitment to investing in young children, supporting educators and building strong foundations for lifelong learning.
