20 Under 40 honors a group of outstanding professionals under the age of 40 who excel in their industry, are company leaders, and are good community citizens.

OTC's English Instructor, Ray Delva, was recently awarded this honor.

Professional

It was at Georgia Southern that Ray first formed and developed his deep passion for teaching literature and writing. He spent his undergrad years serving leadership roles in various literature organizations before pursuing his Master’s degree and graduating from Georgia Southern as a proud Double Eagle. Ray has spent the last few years at Ogeechee Technical College helping students reach a greater understanding of themselves and the world around them by advancing a teaching philosophy that encourages students to embrace their own personal experiences as the foundations for their writing.

Future

“I consider myself to be incredibly fortunate that my work is one of the most fulfilling aspects of my life. I get to teach some of Statesboro’s sharpest minds. To work with the students at OTC and to have an effect on their perspectives and ideas is nothing short of a privilege. My goal is to attain my PhD and figure out a way to overcome the structural issues currently plaguing the national educational system. Any future achievement I accomplish is a direct reflection of Statesboro’s effect on me, and for this I will be eternally grateful.”
