OTC Swears in New Police Chief

Ogeechee Technical College President Lori Durden recently swore in Ryan McNeal as the college’s new Director for Campus Safety and Security/Chief of Police. Bringing over 17 years of law enforcement experience to his new position, McNeal will be the third police chief in the college’s history.
OTC maintains a Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) certified police agency which is responsible for law enforcement at all of the College’s campuses and centers. “I am excited to have Ryan join our leadership team”, Durden said. “His level of experience and knowledge will be an asset to our campus ensuring the continued safety of our students, employees and visitors.”
McNeal began his law enforcement career with the city of Statesboro’s Police Department in 2002. He has worked as a Criminal Investigator for the Georgia Secretary of State’s office and a Special Agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
He is leaving his position as Chief Investigator for the Georgia Department of Community Health, Board of Dentistry to work in his new role with OTC.  “I am honored to be the police chief of Ogeechee Technical College,” said McNeal. “From the moment I stepped on campus, I knew this was the place for me.”
A double eagle, McNeal earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Justice Studies and Master of Public Administration from Georgia Southern University. He also holds a Masters for Homeland Security and Emergency Management from Kaplan University. McNeal is currently participating in firefighter training with the Bulloch County Fire Department to become a level 1 certified firefighter.
McNeal is already a member of Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police and a member of the Statesboro Rotary.
McNeal is married to Heather McNeal and has one son, Charlie.
