Outstanding Alumni Recognized at OTC

Posted on May 16, 2019 at 17:13 PM

Ogeechee Technical College recently hosted an Alumni and Graduate Reception at the College’s Natural Resources Building to honor alumni who were nominated for awards, as well as students slated to graduate in May’s commencement.  The OTC Alumni Association annually presents Outstanding Alumni Awards in two categories, Distinguished (graduated more than 10 years ago) and Recent (graduated within the last 10 years).

The 2019 Distinguished Alumni award went to Candice Elrod, a 2005 honor graduate of the College’s Cosmetology program.  With an extensive, successful career as a Master Cosmetologist, Elrod has represented her alma mater well through her work, and as a volunteer supporter of a number of local organizations.  She is currently a senior stylist at 67 Styles, and is now an adjunct with OTC’s Cosmetology program.

In the recent category, a married couple, who both graduated in 2010 with CIS and Networking degrees, was recognized.  Tom and Beth Williams have had highly successful careers in the technology field, and have pursued additional education, with both being on track to complete a Master of Information Technology in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics from Middle Georgia State University this month.  Tom and Beth both work as Systems Administrators for the Department of Defense at Fort Gordon.

“I think it is important for our students who are about to graduate to see the sort of success some of our previous graduates have enjoyed.  Through a lot of hard work and application of the knowledge and skills gained at OTC, our graduates can do really great things in their professional lives,” stated OTC president, Lori Durden.
