Sarah Singletary wins 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award

Sarah Singletary, Echocardiography Instructor at Ogeechee Technical College (OTC), was named OTC’s 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award winner during the 3rd annual We Are OTC event held April 2 at The Market at Visit Statesboro.
The annual alumni award ceremony recognizes and celebrates OTC graduates who exemplify success and serve as role models in their fields. The awards are presented in two categories: Outstanding and Distinguished, with one alumnus honored in each category. Each applicant remains eligible for consideration for three consecutive years.
“Receiving the Distinguished Alumni Award from Ogeechee Technical College is truly such an honor. OTC played such an important role in shaping my career and my passion for cardiac sonography, and it means so much to now be able to give back as an instructor,” said Singletary. “Teaching at the same college that helped guide my journey, right here in my hometown, is incredibly special to me.”
A 2012 graduate of OTC’s Echocardiography program, Singletary has a distinguished clinical career that has spanned more than twelve years and included advanced cardiovascular imaging in both hospital and outpatient settings. During that time, she has made meaningful contributions to clinical policy development and devoted her time to mentoring students during their clinical training.
In 2024, Singletary returned to OTC as an Echocardiography instructor. Under her guidance, students have achieved an extraordinary 100% first-time pass rate on national registry examinations, a testament to a deep commitment to preparing confident, highly skilled healthcare professionals.
“I am so proud of my students and the dedication they show every day, and I feel blessed to be a small part of their journey,” she said. “Being able to serve this community that has given me so much makes this recognition even more meaningful. I feel truly honored and grateful to call OTC home.”
Through clinical expertise, a passion for teaching, and a profound commitment to community service, Singletary truly embodies the spirit and values of Ogeechee Technical College. Her journey stands as a powerful reminder of how education, purpose, and service can shape not only a career, but an entire community.
The Distinguished Alumni category recognizes an alumnus who graduated in 2016 or before, who has excelled in their chosen field, having attained prominence and has had a positive effect on the local, regional or state level.
