Savanna Lodge Chosen as EAGLE Delegate

Savanna Lodge, graduate of Ogeechee Technical College’s Adult Education Program, has been selected to represent Ogeechee Tech at the EAGLE (Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education) Leadership Institute to be held in Atlanta. The Leadership Institute, a three-day event, recognizes and honors students who have demonstrated superior achievement in adult education classes and programs, and provides them with sessions to develop leadership skills.
Stacy Davis, EAGLE Coordinator, said, “Savanna truly exemplifies the effect that adult education can have on a person's life when combined with effort and dedication. She will be an excellent representative of adult education and Ogeechee Technical College at the EAGLE Competition and Leadership Event in March.”
Savanna has earned her GED® in the Adult Education Program at Ogeechee Tech and has since been promoted into management at work, and now looks to further her education by pursuing a degree in Business Management. Nancy Holt, the nominating instructor, said, “Within weeks of completing her GED®, Savanna was named manager over a brand new store. She tackled that task with the same tenacity she did the GED®. Savanna is always encouraging everyone she meets to reach for their dreams, to set goals, and to never give up.”
Savanna says she knew she had to change, that she wanted to change. She wanted to set an example for her six-year-old son that a person can achieve anything they want if they put forth the effort. The pool of resources offered through the Adult Education Program were exactly the push she needed to get off her “edge of security” and further her education. She has said that somewhere inside her a “light has come on” and that she wants to “be an inspiration to people who think they aren’t smart enough or educated enough to do more in their lives.”
