Several Students Celebrated at Pharmacy Technology Ceremony

Pharmacy Technology Pinning Ceremony GraphicOgeechee Technical College awarded eight students with their Pharmacy Technology Program Completion Certificates, and one student with their Pharmacy Technology pin, in an annual pinning ceremony held at 5:30 pm in the Joseph E. Kennedy Auditorium on December 8.


The evenings ceremony featured two keynote speakers from Southern Hometown Pharmacy in Pembroke, Georgia. Angela Harn a pharmacy technician and OTC alum, addressed the students first.


“Working in pharmacy can be absolutely rewarding knowing that you play a part in helping someone heal or have a better quality of life,” said Harn. “My hope is for all of you to find happiness and contentment in your work no matter what path you choose next.”
Candace Altman, the head pharmacist and OTC alum, praised the profession of pharmacy technicians and the important role they play alongside a pharmacist in the workplace.


“Working in the pharmacy field can be very rewarding, not only is the work meaningful, but you are contributing to saving people’s lives,” said Altman. “One of the greatest aspects of the job is the ability to help people and actually see the impact you have.”
Following Altman, Rashunda Bell, OTC Pharmacy Technology Program Director, gave the presentation of pins and led students through the Pharmacy Technician Oath.


Eight students in total have received their Pharmacy Technology Program Completion Certificates, five of those were in attendance for the ceremony: Ashley Bynes, Deanna Gunter, Russell Herndon, Kaitlin McCoy, and Amber Oglesbee. Deanna Gunter was also awarded her pin for having completed the program and passing her certification exam.
