The faculty and students of the Veterinary Technology Program at Ogeechee Technical College recently celebrated National Veterinary Technician's Week. With more than 150 people in attendance at their annual Veterinary Technology Open House, the event was sponsored by Ogeechee Tech’s Student Chapter of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America. Held in the Veterinary Technology lab, the Open House gave program faculty and students an opportunity to highlight the program and allow others to tour the facility. Billie Walker, Veterinary Technology instructor, said there was a special tribute to Maggie, Walker’s pet English Springer Spaniel who passed away earlier this year. Maggie was an active part of the Vet Tech program prior to her death, and was honored with a scholarship by Faulkville Animal Hospital in her name, which will help a less fortunate animal. The money was raised by the students and a picture of her was presented that will hang in the Vet Tech lobby.
